Gothic home décor has an air of mysterious, dark, romantic, and erotic sensuality. The Gothic era became quite popular during the 12th to 16th century in Europe and then made a comeback during the 1980’s in England. Currently, there is a strong subculture that has developed throughout the major cities of Europe and the United States.
Most of us who are not part of the Gothic subculture have a mental picture of Edward Scissorhands or True Blood’s Fangtasia. Although Edward’s fashion sense and personality can depict a strong Gothic style, we are limiting our vision of the variety of what being “goth” entails. After doing some research, it is quite interesting to learn Gothic home décor can be very flexible to personal interpretation.

Gothic home décor for me means:
dark shades of paint
sexy candles with smells of vanilla and cinnamon
burgundy and charcoal satin bed sheets
four post bed frame that allows the use of bondage and other fetish toys
low platform bed with just two pillows to maintain free of cluttered pillows
minimal furniture in the bedroom – just a Gothic style chest box for storage and two night tables and one leather piece of furniture (like a corset chair or patent leather furniture)
dark velvet curtains to keep natural light out and maintain privacy
black chandelier with intricate details
mirrors to accentuate the sensuality of the room
classic pieces of furniture with an air of darkness

Now you can define what goth means to you and find pieces of décor that represent it. Here are some inspirational Gothic home décor photos if you are trying to incorporate this bold and sexy theme in your home:
Black and white bedroom interiors are becoming more and more popular. Who can resist the elegance, versatility, boldness, and timeless look of the Black and White Bedroom Theme? Anybody can create a beautiful black and white bedroom interior on a budget. Here are some black and white bedroom interiors ideas and tips for inspiration to decorate your bedroom with this sexy unisex look:
Add boldness through a flat black accent wall (avoid any shine to a black accent wall because it will show any wall flaws). Remember to keep the door, trimmings and moldings in bright white. I would recommend adding some shine to the door, trimmings and molding. A semi gloss sheen is more durable and easier to clean. Some gloss to your paint makes doors and trimmings look luxurious.
If you don’t want to repaint your bedroom, take advantage of the black and white or monochromatic wallpaper patterns. Adding a patterned wallpaper will add oomph to any room in your home.

If you want to redecorate on a budget, don’t buy new furniture! Instead of spending money on new furniture, retouch what you already have. It is so easy to just repaint your current night tables and dressers with black or white paint (depending of your overall black-white theme look). Just look at the difference a little paint makes!
If you want to make your bedroom theme look expensive add long and flowy white curtains. They add such a romantic and sensual look to a bedroom. Especially a great trick if you have natural light hitting your bedroom.

The possibilities are endless with black and white bedroom interiors! If you want to test it out, start small and then eventually you can turn your entire house into a black and white theme.
Considering that we sleep an average of eight hours a day, it means that we spend one third of our lives in our bedroom! Therefore, we must put great effort into making sure our bedroom interior exudes warmth, peace, and charm. The art of feng shui dictates the harmonious placement of furniture in any part of your home. Using feng shui in the bedroom can turn a horrible restless sleep into bliss. Having a restful sleep has an overwhelming impact on your overall physical and emotional health. Thus, I have compiled a breadth of information to help you create a harmonious bedroom interior.
Ideal bedroom interior layouts consider where the bedroom is, placement of furniture, and features of the bedroom itself.
Location of the Bedroom
Your bedroom entrance should be private. This also means that your bedroom entrance should not be directly facing the stairs, hallways, or other bedroom entrances! The logic behind the private location of the bedroom is to avoid intrusion of other people and direct energy flows coming in while you sleep. Your bedroom should not face west because direct sunlight makes the bedroom too warm to get a good night’s rest.
Next, the bathroom entrance (AKA, the toilet) should not be facing into your bedroom. Who wants feces stench entering the area where we get our beauty sleep? In addition, don’t occupy a bedroom on top of the kitchen because the heat from the kitchen results in poor health and bad luck.

Placement of the Furniture
Feng Shui Bedroom Interior – Proper Bed Placement
The most important furniture you have in your bedroom is your bed. Don’t place the bed facing the entry of your bedroom because that’s the position your body is in when you’re hauled out of the morgue. Therefore, place the bed away from any door, including closet and bathroom doors. Placing your bed in front of the door also hinders your privacy. Don’t place your bed alongside the wall where there is plumbing, like toilets and faucets.
Don’t place your bed under the window because direct sunlight and wind draft is too strong for your “chi.” Chi is the vital force in your body and too much energy directed toward your chi can result in bad health. Don’t place anything above your head while sleeping, which is sensible earthquake advice as well. However, use a strong and solid headboard protecting you while you get your beauty sleep. Another feng shui rule is never to place a mirror where you can see yourself or your partner while in bed. Some people find it sensuous during intimate moments, but it is a big no-no for feng shui followers.

The ancillary pieces of furniture of your bedroom include scented candles for warmth and sensuality and artwork that symbolize happiness and future goals for you. Don’t use artwork that is depressing, dark, and lonely because it will only incite negative emotions. Do have two night or side tables next to your bed, meaning that your bed should not be placed against a wall. Easy access from both sides of your bed is important for proper energy flow.
Avoid placing electronics in your bedroom, and yes, that includes televisions and computers! Those are major distracters in creating a Zen bedroom interior and providing the most restful sleep. Don’t place large plants inside your bedroom, and if you have small plants, make sure they are faraway from your bed. Make sure that no sharp corners are pointing directly to you while you sleep when you place furniture that has corners like dressers and tables. These corners are “poison arrows” and bring an enormous amount of misfortune and bad luck.
Keep the entrance clear and unobstructed to allow smooth flow of energy coming in through your bedroom. That means do not place your bed, tables, chairs, dressers, or any furniture facing directly into the entrance.
Feng Shui Bedroom Interior
Your bedroom should have at least two windows for proper air circulation. Leave your windows open during the daytime for proper energy flow while keeping your bedroom fresh. This will help you in avoiding trapped humidity that can cause serious damage to your lungs. Consider buying an air filter to help circulate fresh air in your home.
Close all of your doors when you go to sleep, this includes the main door, closet door, and bathroom door. And finally, keep your bedroom clean and tidy always. This means free of clutter, free of dust, items back where they belong, and made-up bed. You will look forward to sleeping each night in your beautiful harmonious bedroom interior.
